#ICEICLE: TISLEP 2019 – Where Leadership Education meets Diversity and Inclusivity

If you have not yet had the opportunity to join us at the Toronto International Summit on Leadership Education for Physicians (TISLEP) this should be the year.

With the Leader role now fully entrenched through CanMEDS 2015, Competency by Design underway and new accreditation standards in effect, the need to integrate leadership into our training programs has never been as explicitly articulated.  But the real need to integrate leadership training goes well beyond such rules and regulations. Today’s healthcare system, in all its complexity and unpredictability demands a broad base of knowledge and skills to navigate the challenges with proper timing and stride.

This year we bring our international focus to ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity’ ,  examining the implicit biases at a personal and organizational level, related to gender, race, and interprofessional teams, that create ‘Challenges for Leadership Education’ .

This theme complements ICRE’s Theme: Diversity in Residency Education: Training in a World of Differences.  We welcome as our inspiring plenary speaker,  Dr. Virginia Roth, Chief of Staff at the Ottawa Hospital who will open the day with her presentation,  “‘Diversity: The future of healthcare leadership’.  As in previous years, the rest of the day will feature a wide range of leadership education topics as well as innovation presentations.   But new to this year’s agenda is a lunchtime learner session designed to create a community of practice that includes  linking learners interested in leadership with mentors in order to promote local and system level change.

TISLEP2019 promises to be the best ever.  Join us Wednesday September 25th ,  and register now at: https://royalcollege.ungerboeck.com/prod/emc00/PublicSignIn.aspx?&SessionID=ejlfekei6famfhkff6&Lang=* for this outstanding pre-ICRE event.   Hope to see you there.
